    • beta Version to Read Brultech Files

    It has long been planned to extend HEAS to be able to process data files created by energy consumption meters. Brultech produces a range of meters and also publishes a test file which has been used to develop the interface.

    Changes in this Version

    Select option "Input Readings File" under the files menu to start the import process.

    HEAS was originally developed to process meter readings: each reading is numerically greater than the previous. (Meter resets and meter rollovers are the exceptions to this rule.)

    Consumption meters typically log the consumption over a nominated time, rather than add to a total which increases from the first reading. Thus, the logic of handling these readings must be different. The fuels must not be marked as "metered" within HEAS.

    The Brultech test file referred to above has readings every second. HEAS could handle this, but the interface aggregates per minute or hour according to user preference. (An obvious enhancement is to aggregate per day since this is the smallest period currently used in reporting.)

    This feature will be further refined, and has been released as a beta version to enable anyone interested the opportunity to make comments and suggestions.

    How to Install HEAS on your Computer

    • Click on the "Download" link above. This will start the download.
    • When the download starts, it will ask you if you want to Open or Save the file. Click on the "Save" button.
    • Next, it will ask you where you want to save the file. The most convenient location is your "Desktop", or the "My Documents" folder.
    • After the download completes, you should see a file named "betaHeas.exe". Double-click on this file to install the HEAS program on your computer.
    • Note that this installation contains a single database named "brultech". Thus, it should not interfere with any other databases you are currently using.
